Mountain Training, (the National Governing Body of mountain leadership and instructing in the UK) launched 2 new courses in April 2014 called Hill Skills and Mountain Skills. These new courses are 'personal proficiency' rather than 'leadership' based. Ideal for young people and adults who want to get out hillwalking in the uplands of Britain and Ireland, they can also be used as a stepping stone towards gaining the experience and qualifications necessary to lead groups professionally. If you are a youth worker or a teacher they are a great way to develop your skills for working with DofE groups.
Lupine Adventure Co-op is very pleased that we were approved in the first wave of providers for these new courses. We run open Hill Skills courses from Edale in the Peak District and out Mountain Skills courses are run from Ambleside in the Lake District.
Since 2014 we have succesfully delivered a total of 16 courses for 75 participants. In addition to our open courses we also deliver private courses for schools, university groups and walking clubs.
We have delivered 2 Hill Skills course for students from the University of East Anglia Fell and Mountaineering Society and will be running another course for them in February 2018. Based from Edale in the Peak District we can deliver a Hill Skills course to a group of up to eight people for a special price of £395. Please get in touch with Dave Lyons via the email link at the bottom of this page to discuss booking this great value deal for your group.
We have also delivered Mountain Skills courses for the Red Rope Club and Colfe's School. We can deliver a Mountain Skills course for your school or group in the mountains of North Wales or the Lake District. Just get in contact to discuss your needs. We can run these courses for individuals on the dates listed below or for groups on dates to suit you. We are currently developing a specific package called 'Hill Skills For Schools' aimed at 14 - 18 year olds who are thinking about working in the outdoors or joining the uniformed services.
